Sandy Lamont Shelton of Brinkley passed away at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 58. Sandy was born in Brinkley to Clarence Walton and Karletha Cade. He was raised by his adoptive mother, Dorothy Cade. Sandy was a lifelong member of Mount of Olive Ministries in Brinkley.

Sandy graduated from Brinkley Public Schools in 1981. He was also a trained plumber and served an apprenticeship under the leadership of the late Otis Owens of Owens Plumbing in Brinkley, which he truly enjoyed.

“Hooker” as Sandy was affectionately known, worked as the custodian of the Brinkley Police Department for many years. He was formerly an employee of Osmosis Construction Company of Missouri. He traveled extensively working on various construction projects throughout the country for more than 15 years. He was a former employee of Smokey Hollow of Little Rock.

His parents; and adoptive mother; and his sister, Felicia Shelton, all preceded him in death. Survivors are a son, Steven Shelton, of Marion, IN; a daughter, Brittany Shelton, of Forrest City; four grandchildren, Saniyah Shelton, of Indianapolis, IN, Milania Shelton, of Marion, IN, Stephaneion Shelton, of Marion, IN, and Zyrihanna Taylor, of Forrest City; his companion, Tangela Tucker, of Brinkley; three brothers, Willie (Patricia) Shelton and Edward Randle, both of Brinkley, and Brad Cade of Scott; a sister, Angela Randle, of Orlando, FL; four aunts, Annie Halliburton and Cora (Jesse) Brown, both of Brinkley, Lavern Washington, of Moro, and Gloria Ward, of Chicago, Ill; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were November 7 at Mount of Olive Ministries in Brinkley with Reverend Jesse Brown officiating. Interment was at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Brinkley by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
