Verlon Carroll Sr. March 2, 1955 – September 13, 2020

Verlon “CP” Carroll Sr. of Jacksonville, formerly of Cotton Plant, died at CHI St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 65. He was born in Cotton Plant to Ulyssee Carroll Sr. and Ednea Bunch-Carroll. Verlon was raised in Cotton Plant and attended the Cotton Plant Public School System. He was a 1975 graduate of Cotton Plant High School.

While growing up in Cotton Plant, “CP” as Verlon was affectionately known, attended Mount Zion Baptist Church (currently, New Mount Zion House of Prayer). After moving to Jacksonville, he became a member of I Corinthians Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, where he served as chairman of the Finance Committee. He remained a faithful member for many years until the church permanently closed its doors several years ago. In recent years, he had been attending True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, where he served as the church’s custodian, and maintenance/lawn care person for several years.

He was employed as a truck driver with ABF Truck Line (Arkansas Best Freight) in Little Rock for 23 years before retiring in 2018. He had previously been employed as a driver for Cocoa-Cola in Little Rock in Little Rock for 18 years.

His parents; three brother, Warren Carroll, Rogers Carroll and Clifford Carroll, all preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife of 37 years, Yvonne Adams-Carroll, of Jacksonville; his son, Verlon Carroll Jr., of Jacksonville; four daughters, Nakia Knight, of St. Louis, MO, Teresa Badgett and Kristian Carroll, both of Jacksonville, and Jacoby (Roderic) Green, of Goodlettsville, TN; nine grandchildren, De’Andre Hudson, Imani Ross and Antwon Ross Jr., all of St. Louis, MO, Jacquline Bonds and Charmmarcus Holloway Jr., both of Conway, David Badgett Jr., of Arlington, TX, Daneille Badgett, of Jacksonville, Dayona Badgett, of Little Rock, and Jordan Veasley, of Jacksonville; four great-grandchildren, Brooke Holloway, Aycen Holloway and Charmmarcus Holloway III, all of Conway, and Olivia Williams, of Jacksonville; two brothers, Ulyssee (Brenda) Carroll Jr., of Chicago, Ill, and Jimmy (Florence) Frazier, of Brinkley; five sisters, Laura (Albert) Boyd, of Chicago, Ill, Dorothy Williams, Gloria Carroll and Myrtra (Reginald) Adams, all of Little Rock, and Neacy Gant, of Cotton Plant; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Carroll, of Inkster, MI and Shirley Carroll, of Chicago, Ill; an uncle, Jewell B. Bunch, of

Graveside services were held Saturday, September 19 at Morning Star Cemetery North in Cotton Plant with Reverend Gerome Hobbs officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
