Wayne Kellar

October 07, 2025

Wayne Louis Kellar of Brinkley, born October 24, 1943, to Othal and Mae Kellar, died peacefully in his sleep September 25, 2025. He was born in Martinville, AR and his family moved to Cotton Plant when he was in the third grade. At an early age he developed a strong work ethic, even scooping ice cream at the age of seven to help support his family, chopping cotton before and after school, and bagging groceries in high school.
In 1961, after graduating high school, he began dating Sandra Duncan. They were married in 1964 and lived in Fort Worth until moving back to Brinkley in 1965. Sandra taught school and Wayne worked for his father-in-law, Garner Duncan, until striking out to farm in 1974 with his brother-in-law, Drury Traylor.
He farmed for 43 years until his retirement in 2017. Wayne devoted the next eight years to his grandchildren and cheerfully (most of the time) the “to do list” Sandra compiled for him.
Wayne was baptized at the Brinkley First Baptist Church after professing his faith in Jesus Christ. He was an active member there for 45 years until he joined the body of believers in Heaven this past Thursday. He will be missed by all those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Othal and Mae Kellar; and brothers, Jay and Wiferd Kellar. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of 61 years; their children, Jeffrey Kellar of Fayetteville and Sarah Cook and husband, Tim Cook, of Little Rock; along with five grandchildren, Jackson, Harrison and Rose Cook, and Lucas and Gabriella Kellar.
Funeral services were Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the Brinkley First Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Garner presiding and assisted by Bro. John Graves. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Brinkley. Pallbearers were Jackson Cook, Harrison Cook, Lucas Kellar, Keith Kellar, Del Taylor and Todd Wilson and honorary pallbearers were Ben Myers, Steve Fowler, Harold Hardwick and Mack Hardwick.
Memorial gifts may be made to Operation Resolute, P.O. Box 565, Belhaven, North Carolina 27810 or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements were Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Brinkley.
