Laura Estelle Burns August 17, 1922 - January 20, 2020
Laura Estelle Burns of Clarendon passed away at her home, at the age of 97. She was the oldest of six children of Sidney and Mandy (Murphy) Hendrix and at the time of her birth, the family lived in Florence, Alabama. They later moved to Moro in 1939.
Estelle married George Howard Burns and for a time continued to live in Moro, where she attended the Methodist Church. They were blessed with two children and as time passed, the addition of their spouses and the joy of grandchildren.
Outside the home, Estelle worked at the Van Heusen Shirt Factory in Brinkley and through the many years at the factory, never lost her love to sew. At some point, she moved to the community of Clarendon. At the age of 97, she had been granted a long life with immeasurable blessings, including the ability to remain in her own home until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four siblings, James Hendrix, Stanley Hendrix, Ellre Hendrix and Lady Brewer. The remaining immediate family includes: two children and their spouses, Charles and Virginia of Moro and Betty and Jerry Simpson of Fayetteville; two sisters, Pearl Potts of Kennett, Missouri and Daisy Goat Brewer of Melbourne; three grandchildren, Scott Burns, Tim and Eric Simpson; eight great-grandchildren, Parker, Cody and Kara Burns, Erin Murry, Dalton, Garrett, Brooklyn, and Julian Simpson.
Funeral services were January 22 at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Clarendon with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Moro.
