Lillian Nowlin Hadaway

Lillian “L.V.” Nowlin Hadaway, 99, of Bartlett, Tenn., formerly of Brinkley, passed away April 13, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tenn. She was the former owner of The Dinner Bell Dairy Bar in Algoma, Miss. She loved to cook and help others and was one of the first members of Victory Baptist Church in Pontotoc, Miss. She never smoked a cigarette, tasted alcohol or drove a vehicle all her 99 years.

While living in Brinkley, she attended the Brinkley First Assembly of God Church and had many friends and love ones in the Brinkley community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Wade and Ethel Inez Hamilton Nowlin of Brinkley; husband, Ershell “Hap” Hadaway of Pontotoc, Miss.; brother, Thomas William “T.W.” Nowlin of Brinkley; sisters, Opal Hutchins and Willa Gunter of Brinkley and Naomi Wooten of Memphis, Tenn.; and nephew, Carl Gunter of Stuttgart.

Survivors are her daughter, Elva “Vicki” Williams of Bartlett, Tenn.; granddaughter, Laura Weiler of Bartlett, Tenn.; grandson, James “David” Cockrell of Bartlett, Tenn.; great-grandsons, Christopher Mitchell and Aaron Cockrell of Bartlett, Tenn.; nieces, Anita (Jerry) Miley, Glenda Arnett, and Linda Bline, all of Brinkley, Brenda (Wayne) Thompson of Moro, Trena (Bill) Kilp of Collierville, Tenn. and Norma (Jerry) Miller of Gadsden, Ala.; nephews, Timmy (LaTisha) Wooten of Springfield, Mo. and Bill (Claudette) Nowlin of Moro; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

There were no public services. Burial was April 15 in Victory Baptist Church Cemetery at Pontotoc, Miss. Arrangements were by Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, Miss.
