Luther Fred Wynne Jr.

April 04, 2023

Luther Fred Wynne Jr. was born on the Kenkel Farm, in Brinkley, Arkansas on February 28, 1932 to Luther Wynne Sr. and Mary Madden-Wynne. He was the 7th of 16 children born to this union.

While growing up on the farm, Luther Jr. received his primary education from Wright’s School in the St. John Community of Brinkley, which was formulated especially for African American students to matriculate.

In the 1950’s, the charming Mr. Luther Wynne Jr. would meet the beautiful Marie Crawford. The pair would form an unbreakable bond and would unite in Holy Matrimony around 1956. To this union, the couple would be blessed with 5 children.

Luther was a believer in Christ, and he professed Jesus as his Savior at a tender age. For several decades, he made St. Paul Full Gospel Church (formerly St. Paul M.B. Church) his home of worship. Luther was a dedicated member of his church and served in many capacities, including Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and on the Usher Board. It was not out of the norm for Deacon Wynne to be the first person at church, and the last one to leave.

Luther possessed a very strong work ethic. He would work in industrial construction for many years, which also included some residential construction, along with some commercial work. He was an excellently skilled handyman, and was capable of repairing almost anything. He was skilled in carpentry, mechanic work, and plumbing. His most recent employment before retiring was a manufacturing laborer for the Van Heusen clothing factory in Brinkley.

Mr. Wynne was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He had a strong sense of “helping others”. He was reliable and there was not a soul that he wouldn’t help when called upon. Luther was an avid hunter, specifically deer hunting. He was a member of the revered Wynne’s Hunting Club. He was also a huge fan of Western shows on television, especially “The Lone Ranger”. Mr. Luther Wynne Jr. was loved by many people from all over.

On Friday March 24, 2023, God summoned His child Luther Fred Wynne Jr. into the safety of His arms. While surrounded by his beautiful family, Luther Jr. surrendered his soul to eternal rest. Awaiting his arrival into eternity were his parents Luther Sr. and Mary Wynne, his son Larry Wynne, his grandson Luther Jonathan Wynne, brothers Henry Wynne, Young Wynne, Edward Wynne, Talvin Wynne, Ulysses Wynne, and Joe Wynne, sisters Magnolia Wynne, Frankie Mae Brown, Dorothy Baker, and Rosalie Wynne.
