Pauline Griggs Standley Hamilton

March 28, 2023

Pauline Griggs Standley Hamilton, 91, of Wheatley, passed away on March 22, 2023, at White County Medical Center in Searcy. Pauline was born March 17, 1932, in Scotland, Arkansas. She was the first of eight children born to George and Edna Massey Griggs. She enjoyed growing up and spending time with her three brothers and four sisters.

Polly spent her elementary years at Scotland School and graduated from Clinton High School in 1951. Here she met her best friend and future husband Ralph “Buddy” Standley. They were married in 1951, and he joined the Air Force in 1952. Most of Polly’s early married life was spent traveling to meet Buddy somewhere in the world as he served his country. The Standley’s were blessed with two children, Ralph Douglas, who went to meet the Lord in 1959 at the age of 5 and Linda Hamilton, who resides in Wheatley with her husband Faron. After 21 years of military service, Buddy retired, and he and Polly lived happily together in Wheatley until he went to be with the Lord in February 1974.

Polly devoted her life to her family. She was a stay at home mom where she took care of her husband and children’s every need. It was once said she always showed up at her child’s class parties with the best baked goods and the biggest smile on her face. Once her grandchildren and great grandchildren were born, they became her top priority as well as her church and friends.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brinkley where she was a faithful member in the Mavis Anderson Sunday school class. She was a licensed cosmetologist and served on the Wheatley City Council for many years. Polly married N.C. Hamilton in 1992 and they spent 10 happy years together.
