Arnold Gene Calhoun, Jr.

Arnold Gene “Geno” Calhoun Jr., 53 of Pittsville, Illinois, formerly of Brinkley, passed away on Monday December 19 at his home.

Arnold or “Geno” as he was lovingly known by all, was born May 27, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois to Arnold G. Calhoun Sr. and Lillie Ruth Johnson-Calhoun. He was the eldest son born to this union.

Arnold received his formal education first starting with the Chicago Public School, where he attended the head start program and kindergarten. And later, after his family relocated to Arkansas, he went on to attend the Brinkley Public Schools. He was a 1988 graduate of Brinkley High School.

While growing up in Brinkley, Arnold and his family attended Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Brinkley under the leadership of Elder Lawrence Devine, where he sang in the youth choir.

After graduating high school, Arnold went on to relocate back to Chicago, where he has lived and worked for more than 35 years.

Arnold was employed as a Fork Lift Operator with IKO Industries. He also worked as a Furnace Operator at Temple Steel in Chicago for two years. He was formerly employed as a Dietician with Chicago Hospital in Chicago. Also , he was formerly employed as a Security Officer at McDonald’s in Chicago.

His father Arnold Calhoun Sr., his brother Craig Calhoun, his maternal grandparents Phanonzell Johnson and Lillie Mae Johnson; and his paternal grandparents: George Calhoun and Annie Mae Calhoun all preceded Arnold in death.

Survivors are: two sons: Andre (Sharonda) Hall of Alexander, AR; and Stephon C. Calhoun of Kankakee, Ill; a daughter Jenessa Brisco of Jonesboro, AR; his parents Lillie Ruth (Clemell) Edmonds of Cotton Plant, AR; two grandsons: Braylen Hall and Kendell Hall both of Alexander, AR; three brothers: Christopher Edmonds of Cotton Plant, AR; Brad Cade of Scott, AR; Leonard Nelson of West Chicago, Ill; and Jeffery Davis of Chicago, Ill; a sister Tiffany Harper of Jonesboro, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday morning, January 6 at 11 AM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Reverend Emmanuel Cornelious officiating.
