Oliver Broadway Sr.

Oliver Broadway Sr., 81 of Brinkley, passed away on Friday December 2 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Oliver was born March 28, 1941 in Moro, Arkansas to Joe Broadway Sr. and Alfreda Howard-Broadway.

While being raised in Moro, Oliver received his education from the Garrett Grove School in Moro, Arkansas.

“Ooboo” as Oliver was lovingly known, was employed with the City of Brinkley Street Department for more than 10 years before he retired in 2016. He had previously been employed as a Farmer with Long Farms in Moro for more 40 years. He was always a very hardworking man.

He was united in holy matrimony to Samantha Howard March 2012.

His children: Sylvester Broadway and Oliver Broadway III, his parents Joe Broadway Sr. and Alfreda Broadway; his siblings: Joella Broadway, Carolyn Broadway and Ray Broadway all preceded Oliver in death.

Survivors are: Samantha Howard-Broadway, of Brinkley, AR; three sons: David (Holly) Sigears, of Moro, AR; Oliver(Maria) Broadway Jr., of Dallas, TX; and Joe Broadway of Brinkley, AR; three dauhgters: Debra (Darran) Franklin of Memphis, TX; Stephanie (William) Harvey Dowdy of Memphis, TN; and Denise (Ramon) Austin of Jonesboro, AR and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers: Joe Broadway Sr. of Dallas, TX; Tom Broadway of Brinkley, AR; and Freddie Broadway of Dallas, TX; three sisters: Marie Broadway of Dallas, TX; Audrey Broadway of Dallas, TX; and Cynthia (Anthony) Walton-Brinkley, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16 at 11 AM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Minister Celeste Bell-Williams officating. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery in Brinkley by C.J.
